"Welcome to International Thespian Society!"

The end of the year is almost here!
But there were still things left to do, I fear.
International Thespian Society was back again now.
The new officers for this year had to be chosen but how?

The current members took a quick vote
and we figured out the new officers as Mr. Torpie took notes.
Angela Diekhaus was president, with vice-president Angelica Santiago.
I was shockingly voted for secretary. Who would have known?

Now, since the officers were chosen, this meant one more task.
'What else is there?" you may ask.
Why, the induction ceremony had to take place!
So then we can recruit the inductees with grace.

We decided the ceremony would take place on the 29th of May.
But then we hit an obstacle on the way.
It was the day of the induction,
but we didn't even know who was speaking the introduction!

So after the school on the day of the event,
we practiced with Mr. Torpie until we were content.
The induction passed in less than hour.
We did what we can to the best of our power.

"I can't see..."

Throughout my long years in high school,
I hated wearing glasses because they were seen as 'uncool'.
So I started wearing contacts day and night
since I needed something to amplify my sight.

However, as the months passed on by,
my contacts were running out, so I needed to go buy.
Therefore, I reluctantly decided to use my old pair of glasses
when I was required to see during my classes.

But another problem appeared next in line.
I accidentally dropped my spectacles down an incline!
It was shattered into small fragments everywhere.
I was so flabbergasted that all I could do was stare.

My last hope of clear vision was just demolished!
I needed them for the rest of high school and college!

Realizing the turmoil I was feeling,
my father spoke with some words of healing.
He offered to buy a new pair of glasses and contacts
as long as I kept a small contract.

The contract stated I take care of them really well
and I promise, dad, that everything will be swell!

"Stage Crew Problems"

February set sail to disappear
and March was finally here!
This meant that it was time for the musical!
However, I caught myself in a small pickle.

Being a part of stage crew was fun and everything,
but managing my time was a difficult thing.
During the tech week, the busiest time of the show,
there were two tests I had to undergo.

I wondered what I could possibly do,
that would enable me to pull through.
I realized my only solution was to stay up to study
which meant, losing sleep. How unlucky.

For a week I stayed up all night
so I could answer the test questions right.
Even though I was sleep deprived,
and always tired inside,
I'm glad we put on a great show
and I helped everyone on the stage glow.

"Filling out the FAFSA!"

As my senior year continues day after day after day,
more and more responsibilities pile up and cause the days to turn gray.
Filling out the FAFSA was an addition to my task list,
but I never expected the application would be full of twists.

I started the application in the beginning of January,
and, unfortunately, I treated it with an attitude that was airy.
Every day would pass, and I would say to myself,
"Tomorrow is another day to start," as I piled up tasks on my shelf.

January passed and February started without any notice.
I finally realized this was something I could not continue to dismiss.
My family and I sat to finish this application once and for all,
but we soon enough noticed we hit a brick wall.

Our tax forms were not completely filled out,
so I could not help but feel a sense of doubt.
Therefore, we found it difficult to answer all the questions
and I wondered who could provide me with suggestions.

I rushed to my guidance counselor to see if she could help,
and she assisted me with all my questions and told me not to yelp.
Thanks to Mrs. Harle, I was able to finally complete it,
and because of her, I didn't throw a fit!

“To Watch or Not to Watch….”

The New Year finally arrived,
And my mind felt so new, so revived!
It was time to start doing better in school
And try working harder because it was the new rule.
Midterms were at the end of the month
And I had to study a whole, whole bunch!
From calculus and limits to cells in biology
And motion in physics and English with Greek mythology.
But a new movie came out during this time
About a deranged mother and her unfortunate crime.
My friend and I wanted to go see it
Even though we should have been studying from our studying kit.
We decided to go the Tuesday before midterms start
But the guilt kept eating my conscious apart.
If we didn’t study, we probably would fail
And we didn’t want to see that on the report cards in the mail.
So we unfortunately decided to study instead
And stay home and munch on Italian bread.
